Marcelino Libao helps dance in the Philippines

In other news! As most of our fans are aware, 2 years ago we had a dancer from the Hamburg Ballet perform with us here at #balletworks. As we are a charity organisation we find it inspiring to find out that the dancers we select to perform, continue to use there artistic talents to help other people. So here is a beautiful story on how @marcelinolibao used our art to support these talented dancers.

A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to help out two boys (Benedict Sabularse and John Edmar Sumera) from the Philippines who were former street children with very rough past, and is now currently under foster care wherein they offer vocational courses to help them with their future, one of the courses is ballet. I first heard of them in a news report last Summer, and with just two years of training, the boys got in the prestigious "Prix de Lausanne" competition for ballet. I immediately contacted the school, and offered my assistance in coaching them with their Neumeier Repertoire variations and classical variations. A huge thank you to the sponsors that managed to help this trip possible! This short time with the boys in Hamburg opened my eyes to the beauty of what our art can do. And just from today's news in Lausanne, both boys didn't go to the finals but is going back home with many offers in professional ballet schools in the world. They have until the summer to decide which scholarship to take. I go to my daily routine now as a dancer with a huge smile and a warm heart knowing these two boys have a brighter future ahead of them.
