Balletworks 2019 saw the dawn of something great as our innovation and diversity hit new heights.
This year we have seen more premiere’s than ever before from both established choreographers and also new creators. The continuous magic created is not just present in front of the curtains but also behind. We feel it is valuable to include you all in the whole voyage of preparing our annual event. In addition, we have made huge steps forward with our Boots for Ballet project.
Over the last few months, Balletworks Director, Robert Robinson has been able to give workshops and rehearsals to the young boys trying and tasting something that they might not have had knowledge or access to before. On a more personal level, a major part of Balletworks has been the connections the artists have made with one another, this has been especially apparent in this year's journey. The majority of dancers, choreographers, costume designers and photographic artists hadn’t met before, however a within a short timeframe the group began to gel and make bonds that can be recognised within the spirit and power of our performances.
With all this in mind, we decided that this year should include some access to that period of connecting that occurs behind the scenes. Thanks to our newest member @bleute and the art he and his camera are able to create, we have been able to make this a reality. Consequently, we are delighted to be able to present you with an inspiring, energetic insight into this years Balletworks from behind the curtain. Enjoy 😊
