Check out Mode and Motion for the full series on Lycra, and feel free to share.
Collaborations are a big part of BalletWorks. What matters is not the end goal, but the people you take with on the journey. A good collaboration pushes each member of the group to develop their ideas; forces them to analyse deeper: and the process of communicating and sharing allows otherwise unexplored concepts to form and solidify. The process of collaboration is already a luxury in itself.
The concept of Mode and Motion, working in the fissures between dance and fashion, is already inherently collaborative. When they approached BalletWorks with the opportunity to be involved in their lycra issue, they came with a set of problems: What makes this fabric different from others? How can it be showcased in photography? But we were able to approach this difficulty as a source of possibility. Through the use of light, the shimmer effect of the material creates splendid contrasts. While we certainly hope the result is enjoyable, we can say with total certainty that the collaboration was a valuable procedure for all of us.
